1st November 2025 Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: 10/20 Surf / Sea State: smooth Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny Max Speed: 19.77 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 18 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Saturday 1st November – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levinngton – sunny periods. Foil – 19.77 knot max, 18.00 knot ave., 8.03 knot hour, 13.20 knot mile, 39.01 km., 12.44 knot alpha. Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt 6.5. I was keen to start the new month with a windsurf foil but the cough continues so I didn’t fancy an open sea session so I headed to Levinngton even though the tides were not favourable, high tide was at 7.16 going out until 1.42 so I knew I would have it all to myself:) The day started with rain but it quickly cleared so I hitched the trailer arriving at the marina at 10, sunny but fairly light winds but I set up anyway, foil board on the little beach by the marina entrance and I rigged my 6.5 hoping it would build! I launched easily and it took 6/7 tacks to make deep water, I like sailing the Orwell at low water as it can be much flatter:) The wind was from the south and I spent half an hour playing hunt the gust, then the wind picked up too much at times for the 6.5! I was on the water two hours mainly sailing across the corner, just me, a few yachts, two tourist boats motoring up from Ipswich while two tugs from Felixstowe headed to Ipswich to escort a ship out to sea! I had some nice runs with some OK gybes, I thought I got some fast alphas, entering the gybe at 19 knots but they did not count as the arcs must have been too big! Getting knackered I called it a day sailing straight up the channel promptly hit the mud and had a swim a short distance t deep water. Pack up, shower and head for home arriving back inn Felixstowe before two! Photo Album here |
